Opens a music player linked to an internet radio station.
The music player accepts streams that are either AAC-LC audio (up to 48 kHz) or mp3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 up to 48 kHz). This includes the following extensions: mp3, m4a, m4b, m4p, m4v, m4r, 3gp, mp4 and aac.
Please Note: Not all media codecs are guaranteed to be available on all Android platform versions. Please check the Android Developer website for more information.
Click on + Block.
Select the Radio block and click Add this block.
Fill in the URL to the radio live stream (i.e. stream.player.arrow.nl/arrow)
Click Continue.
Fill in the name of the block.
Click on the icon if you want to change the image used in the menu.
When you’re done, click Add this Block.
Now that you've added the Radio building block, it's time to configure it. There are only two settings screens available here; Settings and Design.
The settings in the Settings editing screen determine how your block will function, and the settings in the Design screen determine its aesthetics.
There are several aspects of your Radio block that can be changed in this screen; the name of the block, the icon (or image) that will be used in the app menu, the top image for the Radio screen, a description of the radio station, and the URL to the radio live stream.
Should the need arise to keep the users of your published app from using this portion of the app, then you can always make use of the ON/OFF selector.
Change the selector to OFF to keep users from seeing the Radio block. Now you can continue developing your app without worrying about users coming upon areas that you haven't finished developing as of yet. Once you are satisfied with your progress, change the selector back to ON to publish this portion of your app.
The Design screen allows your to make highly detailed changes to your building block. Design gives the developer a remarkable amount of freedom to adjust everything exactly as he or she would like it. Design is not available to all users.
I'm having trouble finding the correct stream URL for my Radio content. How do I find the right stream?
As a first step we recommend getting in touch with the content manager of the website. They should be able to provide you with the correct stream for the radio station.
The stream I want to link downloaded a .pls file to my computer. How do I get this stream in my app?
If you open the .pls file with a simple text editor (Right-click on the .pls file and select "Open with..." Notepad or TextEdit) you will see a selection of usually between one and three stream URLs. Please select the first in the list and paste into the URL field of the Radio block link the streaming content.
Is it possible for a user to listen to audio tracks while the device is offline/ in flight mode?
Listening to music requires an internet connection.
